Carbon Policy Analyst

Carbon Policy Analyst is needed to perform the following duties: 

o   Technical Assessment and Analysis

●       Conduct technical assessments of proposed carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects including analyzing EPA Class VI   injection permits

●       Analyze land use, water, and air quality impacts of carbon management projects

●       Evaluate potential impacts of carbon management technologies on ecosystems and communities

●       Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs for CO2 releases at Delta islands

●       Assess environmental risks of geologic storage in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Lab

o   Stakeholder Engagement and Policy Development

●       Manage multi-stakeholder research collaboratives. 

●       Lead engagement with industry leaders, national labs including NIST and LLNL environmental justice groups, and organized labor associations

●       Develop community engagement frameworks for decision-making

●       Participate in Heirloom Carbon’s Community Governance Committee setting presidents on community governance for the first direct Air capture facility in the US

●       Serve on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Carbon Removal Consortium conducting research on Measurement Review and Verification standards for Carbon Removal projects

o   Standards Development and Policy Implementation

●       Develop community monitoring, reporting, and verification standards for emerging carbon management industries

●       Synthesize policy recommendations for regional economic development strategies

●       Ensure compliance with Executive Order 13175 and Justice40 Initiative requirements

●       Advocate for protections of navigable waterways and job creation opportunities.

Bachelor’s Degree is required in  Development Engineering or Public Policy or Environmental Science or Environmental Policy.
