The March 24th hearing has been HACKED, at this time we are still waiting on an update from the California State Water Board. Restore the Delta will share updates with you as soon as they become available!
Important Update: No Notice of Intent (NOI) NO LONGER Required!
- The Administrative Hearing Office has removed the requirement to submit a Notice of Intent to Appear. Anyone who wants to provide a statement can now do so without prior registration!
- However, if you previously registered and haven’t received a confirmation email, that’s a red flag. Please resend your email to DCP-WR-Petition@waterboards.ca.gov and CC us at info@restorethedelta.org so we can track the issue.
WE’RE NOT GIVING UP!
Members of the public who are not legal protestants can participate in the March 24th hearing by offering a 5 minute policy statement. We are asking you, our strongest and most time-honored supporters, to express how you, your organizations, your economic and/or environmental interests, will be harmed by the construction or operation of the tunnel. Ratepayers who also will be paying for the project can offer policy statements as to how they will be harmed.
- Here are links to our tunnel talking sheet and sample comments for letters to the editor. Please do not copy and paste these directly. Your unique statements about what the Delta means to you are more effective and taken more seriously! A five-minute public statement should be around 450-475 words.
- Delta Conveyance Project One-Pager – Quick facts to strengthen your letter.
- Comment Examples – Sample comments to guide your writing.
Why is This Important?
On February 18th, a series of State Water Project water districts showed up explaining why the tunnel was absolutely necessary for their water supply due to climate change. But our research shows that their urban water plans and general plans tell a different story.
If you’d like one of our staff to review your statement before March 24th, please email it to our Youth & Outreach Program Manager, Mackenzie Owens at Mackenzie@restorethedelta.org.
Thank you for being part of the Restore the Delta community. Your dedication to advocating for the health of the Delta and the estuary means so much. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you.
