Dear Friends,
Our messaging to the Delta Stewardship Council for tomorrow’s hearing is shifting. Technically, the Council has determined that geotechnical drilling is not consistent with the Council’s Delta Plan. We should thank them for that finding.
Included in their determination was a great deal of legalese regarding their role, CEQA, and other various scenarios that actually are a bit muddled. We are leaving that to the lawyers to handle.
Our lay people supporters, however, should thank the Council for their findings and use this opportunity to reaffirm your opposition to the tunnel, explaining respectfully to new Council members all the factual reasons for opposition: construction impacts, dewatering, water quality, destruction of farmland and local economies, destruction of fisheries, etc. Use this period as an education opportunity.
We thank you all for your support. Listed below is the necessary information for making a public comment.
Best regards,
Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla
