Dear Restore the Delta Friends,
We have worked quietly this year to handle legislative issues and have been able to accomplish what was needed behind the scenes.
However, SB 1390 is a very bad bill that needs a rework. Here is why:
The August 22nd amendments to SB 1390 will weaken the protections to the Delta communities and fish and wildlife. Despite reaching an agreement with conservation and fishing organizations on language in the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee that provided better protections for the Delta, SB 1390 was amended on the floor to weaken the Delta provision and undermine the carefully negotiated compromise.
This bill would weaken critical Delta protections when the salmon fishery has been closed for the second year in a row, and more and more fish species are being listed as endangered or in critical status.
Help us Save the Estuary today!
Call Senate president pro tempore Mike McGuire and insist that he pull the bill back into committee to work on the amendments proposed to SB1390 by Restore the Delta and its numerous partners.
